1. Data controller

The data controller is PetTag. You can contact us about data protection matters through our contact form.

2. Data we collect

We collect the data you provide when creating an account and activating a tag: the owner's name and contact details, pet data (name, species, breed, photo, any medical information you choose to include), the emergency contacts you add, and technical information generated while using the Service (such as the approximate location and time when a tag is scanned, or your push notification subscription if you enable it).

3. Purpose of processing

We use your data to: manage your account and associated tags; show the information you choose to make public on the rescue page so whoever finds your pet can reach you; send you an email or push notification when a tag is scanned; and respond to your enquiries through the contact form.

4. Legal basis

We process your data to perform the Service contract (account creation and tag activation), on the basis of legitimate interest in enabling quick contact between whoever finds a pet and its owner, and with your consent for push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time from your dashboard.

5. Recipients and processors

We only share data with the technology providers needed to deliver the Service, acting as data processors: a cloud hosting provider, a managed database and authentication provider, and a transactional email provider. None of them use your data for their own purposes.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In those cases, we make sure an adequate safeguard is in place, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

7. Retention period

We keep your data for as long as your account remains active. If you deactivate a pet or close your account, we keep only the data strictly required by law and delete the rest.

8. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and restriction of processing at any time through our contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) if you believe we have not handled your data properly.

9. Cookies

The Service only uses necessary technical cookies for it to work, such as keeping you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. You can manage cookies from your browser settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy policy to reflect legal or Service changes. We will publish the current version on this page along with the last updated date.
